Nov 28, 2023 | By Stella Che

Are you looking for beautiful photo spots in West Vancouver? You are in luck because I’ve got you covered!

West Vancouver is a classy neighborhood across the water from Vancouver. It is located in British Columbia, Canada, sitting on the north side of Burrard Inlet. West Vancouver offers a captivating and scenic landscape. Picture this: greenery everywhere, mountains in the distance, and breathtaking ocean views. It showcases the best of the Pacific Northwest.

In this blog post, I’ll share my top 4 photography spots you absolutely can’t miss if you’re looking to take stunning photos. So, grab your camera, and let’s explore the beauty of West Vancouver together!

Stunning Photo Spots

1. Lighthouse ParkLocation Map

Lighthouse Park is a must-visit photography location. The views here are so beautiful that you’ll find yourself spoiled with choices with countless scenic viewpoints offering different perspectives of the Pacific Ocean, such as Juniper Point, Lighthouse West Viewpoint, Eagle Point, and more. For more specific photo spots, check out West Vancouver’s Lighthouse Park post.

Now, here’s a pro tip to elevate your experience – visit during the golden hour. As the sun dips below the horizon, it casts a warm glow on the cliffs and the lighthouse, turning the whole scene into a breathtaking photo.

To make the most of your visit, find a cozy spot along the shoreline, set up your camera or phone, and let the coastal breeze inspire your shots. Trust me, you’ll want to stay longer, witnessing the sun create colors in the sky that you never knew existed.

2. Horseshoe Bay LookoutLocation Map

Horseshoe Bay Viewpoint is ideally situated in the scenic beauty of West Vancouver. Offering a wonderful panoramic spectacle, this viewpoint is perched overlooking the iconic Horseshoe Bay. In my opinion, it is one of the best locations in West Vancouver for sunsets.

From here you can enjoy spectacular views of the bay itself, the surrounding mountains, and the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. It is the perfect spot to snap some Insta-worthy photos, or simply immerse yourself in the natural beauty.

For the best experience, arrive an hour or two before sunset. This gives you plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful scenery, cherish the moment, and take some great photos.

3. Whytecliff ParkLocation Map

Whytecliff Park is a fantastic spot in West Vancouver that’s definitely worth checking out. It is located snugly along the rugged coastline and is known for its unique blend of rocky shores, lush greenery, and beautiful ocean views.

It’s a photography-worthy location because of the combination of weathered, textured rocks against the backdrop of the ocean which creates a visually stunning landscape.

The most popular spot is the small rocky island, Whyte Islet, which you can reach during low tide by walking along a rocky sandbar. From there, you get incredible panoramic views of the ocean and coastline.

To elevate your images, consider experimenting with different angles. Climb up the rocks to capture the entire scene, or use a drone for a unique perspective. Play with various styles and moods, whether it’s a clear sunny day or an overcast one, to add depth and atmosphere to your shots.

4. Ambleside ParkLocation Map

Ambleside Park is a waterfront gem. It offers a mix of impressive views that includes the coastline, Stanley Park, Lion Gate Bridge, and more. It’s an excellent spot for photographers, providing a variety of landscapes from morning to night.

Begin your day with a sunrise walk along the shoreline. The soft morning light casts dreamy reflections on the water, creating a serene atmosphere.

As the sun begins to set, It turns into a golden wonderland. Take advantage of this magical time to capture the warm hues painting the sky during sunset.

During the Twinkling Lights, stroll along the beach to the iconic Ambleside Welcome Figure for a closer look at some of Vancouver’s landmarks and the West Vancouver waterfront. The setting practically begs for a moody nighttime shot. The city lights across the water, coupled with the tranquil sounds of the waves, create the perfect atmosphere for a captivating photo.
